Welcome to Tyne Valley Cycling!

About our Club

Tyne Valley Cycling Club was formed ten years ago by a group of very experienced cyclists to encourage, promote and develop the sport of cycling in all its forms for the benefit of members of the Club and the community.

The Club organises regular club runs with competent leaders for all levels of ability. Road runs generally start from Wylam (B group) and Crawcrook (A group); off-road rides from locations appropriate to the ride. Club monthly meetings are held in Greenside Community Centre; we also arrange occasional social events.

The club offers a warm and friendly welcome to all cyclists with an opportunity to enjoy our sport and develop riding skills amongst friendly and knowledgeable cycling enthusiasts.

New Members Welcomed!

We are always keen to welcome new members, whatever their level of experience or cycling interest. We have two road sections and an offroad group. Take for example, our B group roadies, who ride three times a week throughout the year, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, distance covered typically 60 - 80 miles in the summer months and 40 - 60 miles on the shorter, winter days. The pace is usually a leisurely 12 or 13 mph but the group will ride at the pace of the slowest member. The routes are chosen for their quiet roads, scenery and café stops, usually in the Tyne Valley or Northumberland. Interested to hear more?  Please e-mail your (brief) details and experience to Dave Tomlinson our Membership Secretary (davet@nels.co.uk) who will try to answer your queries and arrange for you to join a club run.

Tour of the Reservoir 2010 outstanding success

Our major event of the year, the 2010 Northumbrian Water Tour of the Reservoir took place on Sunday March 28 - a bright, cold and very windy day - and was an outstanding success. All the best of British teams and riders competed on the exciting 84 mile course but there were a number of surprise retirements due to the gruelling conditions. Follow the link for details: Tour of the Reservoir 2010

New Club Secretary Urgently Required

The club urgently needs to elect a new Secretary due to the resignation of Peter Scott, who has done sterling work in the post over the past eight years.  The workload is now significantly reduced as some of the secretary’s responsibilities have been transferred to other members: we now have separate minutes and e-mail secretaries and a member to manage the club website.

If you’re interested and want to know what the job entails follow this link for details, or contact George Craig directly to discuss:
