Award for Mike!
During 2009 Mike, long-suffering organiser of the Northumbrian Water Tour of the Reservoir Premier Calendar road race and club chair, received an award from British Cycling for his outstanding contribution to cycling over the years. Mike has faced many challenges in his long association with cycling, not least of which are the problems of trying to organise a high quality road race, difficult at the best of times, with half the circuit on closed roads - at the insistence of the local police - and the other half with rolling road closure!
The southern part of the Tour of the Reservoir circuit is in County Durham and the northern part is in Northumberland, each being within the jusidiction of different police authorities having different policies.
