Road ‘B’

B group comprises riders who prefer a quite sedate and sociable pace so newcomers who aren’t sure about their level of ability can start with this group if they wish. Average speeds are around 12mph and cafe stops are definitely on the agenda; sometimes two or three in a day. This group always stays together and is happy to set the pace to suit the slowest rider on the day.

Here’s ‘B’ member Mike Jackson during his End-to-End ride in July 2008:

Rides can be quite long, up to 90 miles, in the summer months so with tea stops included the day can be fairly long but not arduous. Since rides are planned in advance riders can check out the run before deciding if that’s for them on that day. There’s quite a variety of routes and stops.

TheĀ ’B’ Sunday runs list for 2010 can be viewed by following the link. AllĀ rides from April until late October start at 9am and leave from Wylam Library, and winter runs start at 9:30am:

If you’re interested in joining in club rides ring Mike or George [numbers on the Contacts page] or just turn up and you’ll be made very welcome.

Some of the BC riders enjoy a short stop at the Hartside cafe on a coast-to-coast by road ride:
